First, it is necessary to determine the type of cells that will be used, and in this article, we will describe only two types of Beehives used by Alamal Farms Trading Company (ESC) in its apiaries.
Types of beehives:
First: Regular Langstroth Beehives :
Specifications:
– Single breeding box
– Standard beehive sizes
– Maximum of 10 frames
Second: Langstroth beehives with Honey box:
Specifications:
– Breeding box + Honey box
– Standard beehive sizes (breeding box and Honey box)
– Maximum of 10 frames for the breeding box and 10 frames for the Honey box
The bee species used is the Italian Carniolan bee. The average honey production per hive(breeding box only) is 5 to 8 frames, with each frame containing approximately 1 to 1.5 kg of honey. Therefore, the average production per cell is from 5 to 12 kg of honey.
The average honey production per beehive (breeding box + Honey box) is also 5 to 12 kg of honey.
As for the Honey box, they have 10 frames each, with an average of 1.5 to 2 kg of honey per frame. This means that the queens have a total of 15 to 20 kg of honey, resulting in an average hive production of 20 to 32 kg of honey.
Regarding honey prices, they vary based on the quality of honey in terms of:
1. Maturity (moisture content in honey)
2. Total sugar content
3. Honey sucrose content
4. Nutritional and medicinal content of honey
5. Residues of toxins and pesticides in honey
All of the above factors are influenced by the types of plants and flowers that the bees feed on. For example, the price of clover honey ranges from 60 to 75 Egyptian pounds per kilogram, while citrus honey ranges from 70 to 80 Egyptian pounds per kilogram. The value of honey increases when bees feed on medicinal, aromatic, and rare plants.
This is in addition to other bee products.
When exporting honey, standard specifications determine its price.
Costs:
– Preparing a hive consisting of 10 regular Langstroth cells with high-quality materials, including a colony of approximately 3,000 Italian Carniolan bees, a mated queen, and three frames per cell. The cost per cell is 2,500 Egyptian pounds.
– Preparing a hive consisting of 10 Langstroth cells with queens with high-quality materials, including a colony of approximately 3,000 Italian Carniolan bees, a mated queen, and three frames per cell. The cost per cell is 3,500 Egyptian pounds.
Hope Pharma Trading Company offers two weeks of free supervision to ensure the success of the hive and trains one of the workers in the initial beekeeping tasks.
In addition, free beekeeping equipment is provided, including a beekeeping suit, protective mask, smoker, hive tool, and a beeswax brush.
Furthermore, a packet of Hope Forage Seeds is given for free, sufficient for planting 1.5 acres.
The cost of supervision is determined by agreement.
