The pollination of flowers begins during the period from December to the beginning of March, and according to the date of the beginning of cultivation, where the plant bears large numbers of flowers, and during the period from March to May, and the ripening of the seeds begins at intervals and according to the date of the beginning of cultivation.
At the beginning of the seed ripening, the ground is spread with nylon between the lines to receive the ripe seeds, and they are collected daily at every evening. Paper bags may be placed over the fruiting tops that began to knot with paper bags, then the ripe seeds that overflow inside the bags are collected after a while, then the bags are transported for that, and the fruiting tops are shaken The ripened seeds daily in the early morning inside paper bags to collect the seeds. The fruiting tops are separated at the end of the crop and spread under the sun until they dry. Then the ripe seeds are separated from them. All the seeds are sorted after the completion of their collection and placed in the sun for a sufficient period to dry, then purified and sorted well and divided into two sections:-
The first section: is that seeds that are suitable for cultivation, as they are sorted again, purified and treated in special ways to preserve the vitality of the seed embryo and packed in special bags prepared for that.
The second section: It is the seeds that are not suitable for cultivation, and they are prepared for the process of extracting aromatic and medicinal oils from them.
Methods for collecting and drying the leaves, flowers and stems of the plant (Borage Al-Amel)
The leaves and some stems are collected by mutual thinning on the plant. The leaves can be collected on a daily basis as they are dried in the sun and then transported to the shade until complete drying. They are packed in paper bags prepared for that and kept in a dry place. The flowers are collected after flowering begins in December until April (as long as the flowers are open) and we start collecting flowers from the beginning of the decade until its completion
Where the fallen flowers are collected daily as a result of knots, and they are collected and dried in a dry, well-ventilated place, away from air currents, so that the flowers do not fly as a result.
The average yield of the plant (Borage Al-Amel)
Ripe seeds: an average of 20 to 30 kg per acre.
Dried flowers: an average of 50 kg to 80 kg per acre.
Dried leaves: an average of 500 kg to 700 kg per acre
Dried stems: average from 1000 kg to 1300 kg per acre
